Zvíkov Castle

Zvíkov Castle, often referred to as the "King of Czech Castles", stands proudly at the strategic confluence of the Otava and Vltava rivers and is one of South Bohemia’s most significant historical landmarks. Founded in the 13th century by Přemysl Otakar I, the castle features extensive grounds that are mostly open to the public free of charge, with the exception of the palace area, which requires an entrance fee.

Visitors can explore self-guided tours through the royal chambers, cellars, and an archaeological exhibition showcasing the castle’s rich history. During summer evenings, theatrical performances enliven the castle courtyard, offering a magical cultural experience.

The breathtaking views of the river confluence captivate every visitor, while the pier below the castle serves as the departure point for scenic boat trips on the Orlík Reservoir, providing a unique perspective of the surrounding South Bohemian landscape.

Nearby, the village of Zvíkovské Podhradí welcomes guests to relax at a cozy mini-brewery serving local beer and to enjoy refreshing swims at the village lido during the summer months.
